Waterproof Epoxy Coating

Waterproof epoxy coating

Glue wooden parts together and then make a virtually maintenance free waterproof surface by epoxy coating it. This epoxy is used for gluing the wood, laminates and fillets as well as for coating wooden parts. We recommend the use of this solvent free epoxy for use at home.

It has a slow initial cure time that makes it ideal for unpractised workers. It does not rely on solvents for treating the surface or softening for further coats thus it is perfect for those whose workplace is within smelling distance of a living area. There is no need to use respirators or have an air extractor system.

Volatile Organic Compounds (V.O.C's) are virtually zero as there are no solvents in our epoxy system. Our epoxy is environmentally friendly because it is 100% reactive.

  • Any accidental splashes on the skin can be cleaned with soap and water.
  • This epoxy has virtually no smell.
  • This epoxy must be applied at a temperature greater than 10°C to ensure a proper cure. At the other extreme it is possible to pre-heat the epoxy to 28°C. to improve the penetration into the wood.
  • The pot life of 0.5 kg mass at 25°C. is approximately 40 minutes
  • Tack free cure time at 25°C is between 4 and 5 hours
  • Maximum time between coats without sanding is 12 hours
  • Tensile strength 8,800 psi
  • Tensile modulus 390,000 psi
  • Tensile elongation 7.2%
  • Flexural Strength 14,900 psi
  • Flexural Modulus 441,000 psi
  • Compressive Strength 12,300 psi

We no longer sell mixing pots because most customers now seem to use old, cleaned out, yoghurt pots or similar.
